If you’ve been paying attention, you’ve probably noticed that buffalo plaid is dominating clothing stores right now. So what exactly is buffalo plaid?


“Buffalo Plaid” is a term given to a plaid pattern that consists of large checks and squares, without the thin lines and overlapping that is typical of regular plaid. For a lot of people, the first thing that comes to mind when they hear “buffalo plaid” is a lumberjack, or more specifically, Paul Bunyan. While historically, buffalo plaid was most common on burly male loggers, the trend has over time spread to women's clothing.
